iHealth: The App That Lets You Track Your Blood Pressure from Home
A new system has been released that allows users to check their own blood pressure at home using an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad device.
iHealth allows users to test, track and graph their blood pressure and, more importantly, allows them to share this information easily with their doctor. The system itself consists of a hardware dock, a blood pressure arm cuff and a free downloadable iHealth app.
The iHealth app lets users record their blood pressure, view patterns by date and time as well as create custom graphs and charts – all this information can then be presented to doctors or family.
Yi Liu, CEO of iHealth Lab, commented on the system:
“The future of health management starts with the individual. By identifying how daily activities affect one’s vitals like blood pressure and heart rate, people can be more proactive about their personal healthcare.”
To date, iHealth is available to purchase for $99.95 from the iHealth online store, but it will become available through Apple’s official channels later this month. This is an indication that Apple is further embracing the relationship between iOS devices and the healthcare market; a relationship that Scott Forstall, Senior Vice President of iPhone Software for Apple, noted back in 2009.
The free iHealth app is available to download from iTunes.
